The Hip Hop Nutcracker Chester Theatre reviews
Band overpowered talented voices
The show put on by Faith and The Hip Hop Nutcracker was decent, but lacked those exciting moments that usually get the crowd cheering. The band unfortunately at times drowned out their voices, which was disappointing considering Faith's incredible vocals and energy. Faith really stole the spotlight with her stage presence, overshadowing The Hip Hop Nutcracker. My husband, unfamiliar with the songs, remarked that he couldn't make out a single word being sung. Country music emphasizes lyrics, so it was a shame that aspect was lost. The Hip Hop Nutcracker appeared more like a background singer for Faith. The encore was a bit odd, starting with a duet without the band and then quietly exiting the stage. It felt somewhat anticlimactic. It was a nice touch for them to walk through the crowd to thank the fans. The light show and special effects were fantastic. I would definitely go see Faith perform again, but not so much The Hip Hop Nutcracker.
